TW: Mentions of Death

1

Xada

The future called, and told me I would die.

It happens more often than you would think: choking on a berry; falling down the stairs; even slipping on a freshly mopped floor and careening, head first, into a wall.

But this time, it is different.

Despite the myriad of possibilities I was shown, it now seems that there are only three distinct outcomes: either I perish, she does, or we both do. I did not see how, I only saw the end. I do not know when, I only know that she looked the exact age that she is now.

Truly, when it comes down to it, there is only one logical conclusion: me. I must die.

Let me explain.

I am more experienced than she, it is true, but she is already showing great power at the age of seventeen. This power can only grow.

Depiction in a tarot-like way, of the moon goddess, Uwaz. Enshrouded by a cloak and holding the levitating moons in her arms. Multiple eyes decorate her body.

The moon goddess confirms this in whispers from time to time. She shows me visions of her commanding the stars themselves to do as she wishes. Visions of her defeating formidable foes and leading powerful allies. Something is to come, and she is to bring it down. There is no future where I am the saviour. But I can save her.

And when the time comes, I will.

Sile Uwai velmus, si e’l’eriazu.

As the moons wish, so it will be.

Alright, just got started and this is already the sort of writing I'd see in professionally written fantasy books at a shop. Can't wait to see where this goes
